rich beyond belief

cried a few times watching this documentary on pbs by nishtha jain about her young maid, lakshmi set in india. starts with pretty lakshmi’s day in the life as a maid for the filmmaker then.. to her real life! it was heartbreaking to watch skeleton framed lakshmi just come down with chicken pox while pregnant and suffering from persistant tuberculosis looking for a hospital that will take her in. embracing fate wherever it may take her. how i wished she survived this. her pain is all of us. you’ll see that desperation in her eyes in almost every corner of the world. can you really speak for them when you’ve never been to where they have? not everyone is clever, strong, fortunate enough to get a head in life. whatever the reason is no need to ask. you just need to help them.

i heard a strange whaling once that i can never forget. was walking down the street in downtown manhattan one cold evening. the sound was echoing deep in the corner of a street construction barricade. it didn’t sound like human’s so i peeked over my shoulder as i was passing through quickly then i realized what i saw was a glimpse of a dark figure, a homeless man bare footed facing, almost varying his face to the corner of the two wooden panels just standing there rocking, whaling like an animal. i was devastated but didn’t know what to do! i give to the homeless whenever i can. but to this day how i feel so bad about not helping him. he was just like me but stuck in there in that hellish existence. no need to ask nothing. there’s definitely a need to ask questions to those who have made so much money and still strive to make so much more. “?” article about why the rich are more self-obsessed, less empathetic..
